Mai had been out for food after her evening class, and had come back late full of noodles and sake.
Within minutes, she was in the loo throwing up, which was repeated sporadically through the morning, alternating with events of equal import from the south pole.

I stayed home

… which meant I got to spend the day with my two-year-old daughter. I think it is the first time that I’ve spent the whole day alone with her, and it was wonderful. She is such a beautiful, clever, funny, joyous bundle, that to spend that time with her is to feed off a marvellous energy.
